Redman - Pick it Up

This dude’s been doing it for a while now. His albums with Method Man are standout for sure, but his solo work should not be disregarded. Here is one of his singles from 1996. Not only does it show his gritty lyricism at work but at around 2:35 you can see people raising the roof for the first time ever. No joke….. he started that shit. Yeah, he didn’t really have a name for it….. but it is better than the “move” Busta does in “Arab Money”. I’m glad us dorky white kids didn’t pick up that “dance move”.

We don’t “raise the roof” anymore (your cousins Mitzvah last month doesn’t count) but it was kinda cool while it lasted.
